Web Technologies
The team at YellowDog Software has many years experience with many web techologies, including Java, PHP, Unix and SQL. We have standardized on Macromedia's Flash and ColdFusion for most of our applications. ColdFusion and Flash provide a robust and secure envoironment that is platform and browser agnostic. This is very important to us, because it means that the solutions we create can be used by anyone with access to a web browser and the Internet.
Since most of our applications integrate with databases, ColdFusion easily connects to any ODBC or JDBC compliant database. Or, through CORBA programming, we can connect to any older mainframe system as a dumb terminal, giving new life to outdated systems. We use PostgreSQL databases running on Apple's flavor of Unix, Mac OSX, which has become the most widely distributed version of Unix worldwide.
Users need only a relatively current web broswer to use our applications, and can be running a Windows operating system (95-XP), or Apple's Mac OSX, or Linux, or Unix. On the server side, all the application will run on Windows, Linus or Unix.
YDS maintains our own servers for hosting our client's applications and for providing a secure environment for developing and testing new applications. We have several Hewlett-Packard Windows 2000 servers for web hosting and development, and a couple Mac OSX servers for database hosting and development.
